Mazda is planning to launch its first electric vehicle (EV) in 2027, according to CEO Masahiro Moro. The move comes as part of Mazda's efforts to accelerate its electrification strategy and catch up with global competitors. While the company introduced an electric version of its MX-30 sport utility vehicle in 2021, it was initially launched as a hybrid and not specifically designed as an EV. Mr. Moro also revealed that Mazda intends to increase the production of EV-only models starting in 2028.
