Generative AI in Japan: Pioneering Efficiency with Responsible Governance

The adoption of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly growing in Japan, with over 90 percent of major companies either contemplating its integration or already implementing it in their operations. Nevertheless, businesses continue to harbor apprehensions regarding data breaches and authenticity, as evidenced by a survey conducted by a Japanese media company. Out of the 100 companies surveyed, 41 reported that they are already utilizing generative AI, while 50 others are contemplating its implementation. Interestingly, two companies expressed a negative stance on AI and have either prohibited its usage or are contemplating doing so, while one company stated that it currently has no plans to adopt this technology. Financial Expectations In Japanese Marriage Partners In 2023

A recent survey conducted by Meiji Yasuda Research Institute Inc. has shed light on a disparity between the financial expectations men and women have for their potential marriage partners in Japan. The study, which was carried out online in March 2023, involved 7,453 participants between the ages of 18 and 54, consisting of both married and unmarried individuals. Of the respondents who were unmarried, a significant number of both men and women expressed their single status, with 75.2% of men and 68.4% of women reporting that they were not currently in a relationship. Nevertheless, more than 80% of these unmarried respondents expressed a desire to get married someday. When asked about the top three qualities they looked for in a marriage partner, there was little disparity between men and women in the top two choices. Japanese Companies Raise Base Pay to Attract and Retain Talent Amidst Soaring Prices: Is it Enough?

According to a survey conducted by the Finance Ministry, a whopping 62.1% of companies in Japan have already or plan to raise their base pay in fiscal year 2023. This marks a significant increase from the 38.7% recorded the previous year. It seems that companies are trying to secure talent and match rising prices through these wage hikes. Interestingly, the nonmanufacturing sector saw the most substantial increase, with 56.0% of companies raising wages, up from 28.8% the previous year. In contrast, the manufacturing sector recorded a slightly higher figure of 69.8%, up from 52.0%.   Additionally, there has been a significant increase in the number of companies offering raises of 3% or more. This figure has increased to 37.3% from the previous year's 13.7%.
