Suntory is set to launch a limited series of canned highball drinks featuring the prestigious "Yamazaki" whisky on August 8th, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the company's founder, Shinjiro Torii, starting whisky production.

These special editions, known as "Suntory Premium Highball Yamazaki," will be available in a limited quantity of about 2.4 million cans, each containing 350 milliliters (12 oz) of the beverage. With a price tag of 660 yen ($4.65) per can, inclusive of taxes, they will be sold in various supermarkets and retailers across Japan.

Yamazaki whisky is Suntory's flagship product, crafted at the renowned Yamazaki Distillery located in the town of Shimamoto, in Osaka Prefecture. In recent years, this premium whisky has gained significant popularity not only within Japan but also on a global scale.

Suntory has mentioned that their regular canned highball drinks, which utilize the "Kaku" and "Jim Beam" whiskies, are typically priced between 180 and 210 yen ($1.30 to $1.50). Since Yamazaki is positioned as a high-end whisky, the price for these limited edition mixed alcoholic drinks will be more than three times higher.

This announcement follows Suntory's recent launch on June 6th of a highball drink featuring their luxurious "Hakushu" whisky. Priced at 660 yen ($4.65) per can, the same as the Yamazaki highballs, the Hakushu variant quickly became a trending topic on social media even before its official release. On the day it hit the shelves, numerous online posts were dedicated to the drink, with one user expressing their journey to six different convenience stores in search of the product.

When approached for comment, Suntory's public relations department expressed their desire to offer a delightful and memorable whisky experience to consumers. They recommend enjoying the drink poured over ice in a glass, enhancing the overall experience.
